The More Things Change The More Things Aren't The Same
Hi There,
I remember when I left New York City for Paris, I felt a change in the wind. I knew that the city I was raised in was changing, but it seemed to happen faster than I expected.
When I was a teenager, my older cousin would always scoop me up to hang out at this place called USA Diner in Queens. It became our tradition to end the night with a trip to USA Diner after hanging out.
There are so many memories for me at that place. I even worked there during my junior year of high school, but I had to quit because it conflicted with being on the softball team. Man, that menu had over 100 items, from the pizza burger to silver dollar pancakes. One of my favorite things to get was the combo platter, which had mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, buffalo wings, chicken nuggets, and French fries. And that chicken flamingo was off the chain. This place was a cultural staple—if you lived in Southern Queens, you went to USA Diner!
Thinking back on those times, I'm inspired to share a couple of personal anecdotes with you. These memories are close to my heart, and I hope they help you connect with the fondness I have for my now-defunct hangout spot.
Story Time….T’was the night before Christmas Eve…
LL Cool J was really "loungin".....
Thanks for the memories, USA Diner. You will be sorely missed.
